#26 You’re Doing Alright, Mama.

As a parent, you never know if you’re doing the right thing. There’s no crash course you take, it’s all on-the-job training. Will has been continuing to bring up his Nana every night, and I was beginning to feel like I wasn’t explaining things clearly for him since he kept bringing up the same issues.  I was at a loss for what more I could say to him.

Two nights ago, he mentioned talking to his teacher, Mrs. Christina, about his Nana.  I told him he could talk about his Nana to whomever he wanted, especially his teacher.  I then sent her an email yesterday asking if he has ever mentioned her, and preparing her in case he decided to bring up the topic.  She replied and said he hadn’t mentioned anything, but she said it helped explain what he said the other day while in class.  They are currently learning about dinosaurs in class, and Mrs. Christina was explaining what it means to be extinct.  She then said Will raised his hand and asked, “Like when people die and go to heaven, right, Mrs. Christina?”.

Thank goodness something is sinking in.
