The day arrived, and our little man is officially a one-year-old. We all took the day off to spend together as a family. My uncle and my dad were also arriving mid-afternoon, so we wanted to make sure we were home for their arrival. Nathan greeted us this morning standing up in his crib, grinning his toothy smile (With one more tooth! Official tooth count is up to 5). We got him dressed and headed out the door to get some last minute errands done before the family arrived.
Our first stop was Chick-Fil-A for breakfast. Will may be one of the pickiest eaters that I know, but he does love himself some Chick-Fil-A. After filling up on chicken biscuits, we went to Target for some essential household items. When we arrived home, my dad and my uncle were already standing in the driveway. Will was bursting with excitement when he saw them in front of our house. Usually he plays shy for five minutes until he warms up to visitors, but today he ran right up to both of them and was jumping up and down with absolute joy.
The rest of the afternoon was spent hanging out around the house. The boys played happily with my dad and uncle inside and outside the house. When it was time for dinner, we headed out to Olive Garden. Nathan is a great eater at baseline, but one of his absolute favorite meals is spaghetti. We got him an entire side order of spaghetti, and he ate the whole portion. On top of that, he ate two breadsticks, spinach artichoke dip, and several bites of food from my plate. He was a happy boy.
Once we got home from dinner, we dug into his birthday cake. Andrew took Nathan into the store earlier that day, and apparently Andrew showed him two cakes, and Nathan picked out the blue cake. He was really excited about his birthday cake.
Nathan’s first birthday was a success.
